Laura Hipke was born in 1958 in San Francisco,
but spent most of her childhood in a small town
near Vancouver, Washington. She is self-taught
except for a brief stay at California Institute
of the Arts when she was sixteen years old.
She is currently living in Glendale, California
with her husband Randy and three children.
Her studio is located in near by, Montrose, a
speck on the map just north of Glendale that
suits her small town sensibilities.
